Austin Texas and Gospel music...most would put these together with tongue in cheek. But for those who take the time to survey the musical mosaic of "the Live Music Capital of the World" they will find a deep, rich vein of traditional gospel music. It's a blend of treasures from our Texas Hill country heritage-agrarian, honest, spiritual, soulful, gritty, rockin...it's all there in the fabric of Austin's Gospel music. Chester Baldwin of the Mount Sinai Baptist Choir calls it "...music that sticks to your soul". We call it "kick-butt Gospel". Whatever you call it, Austin revels in it whether at a Church or a Gospel Brunch.

The purpose of this CD is 3 fold: Raise funds for non-profits that benefit musician’s (profits divided 25% for musicians medical needs; 25% to be determined in the future). Expose our rich gospel music heritage, reminding ourselves of the foundation it laid for the current Austin music we enjoy. Help preserve “roots Gospel music” by getting it into the street where it can be appreciated by the masses (50% of profits go to this GAA Project to help produce more of this music). This CD is intended to be a celebration of traditional, undiluted Gospel music of all genre’s -- much like the Grand Ol’ Opry celebrates great Country & Western music of all types. Many of the musicians contained herein are Christian believers, some have other faiths, and some may not know what they are. But they all understand they have been given a gift, and they all relished this opportunity to give it back unreservedly, in the finest Gospel tradition.

The Gospelaires are a group of musicians and singers from the Salvation Army in Austin. Formed and led by Warren Stallworth and Alonzo "Streetwize" Williams in 1995, they fused Warren's vast gospel harmony background with Alonzo's funky guitar style. They have succeeded in creating the coolest, gritty, asphalt Gospel group in Austin.
