Asleep At The Wheel - The Very Best of
Our Price: $13.00

Well friends here it is. The Very Best of Asleep at the Wheel - finally!!! For a number of years, we have been trying to get a collection of our most requested and best-loved tunes onto one CD. Because of the legalities and different record labels owning various tunes, this was not gonna happen. We finally got to a point where we realized we needed to re-record these tunes and make a NEW album of old Asleep at the Wheel favorites. So, as the year 2000 drew to a close we began recording some of our favorites. My concerns in doing this album were threefold. First, I wanted to be sure that the versions we did were as good or better than the original versions. Second, for the past 15 years or so I have been the main lead singer of the band and some of the songs which I have been doing live for the past 20 years or so had not been recorded with me as lead vocalist! Thirdly, as time goes by we've gotten a lot better as players and the technologies for recording have gotten better, too. Here was an opportunity to re-record these favorites with the superior sonics that are available to us now. So, here they are! The songs that have kept us busy playing on the road these past 31 years. We hope ya'll enjoy them on CD as much as you have on records and live on stage.

Kevin Fowler makes 100% pure country music. Not the slick, homogenized stuff that tends to dominate the country radio airwaves today, but the country music that keeps the throngs dancing and drinking in the honky-tonks, dancehalls, nightclubs, roadhouses, and cantinas across the land.
Ryan Bingham - Mescalito
Our Price: $15.00

From his bordertown upbringing to his years on the Southwestern rodeo circuit, Bingham's poignant songs, sung through his whiskey-soaked voice, reflect his experiences and the wisdom he has gained from them. His songs are raw, honest and born out of a genuine soul.
From the opening track "Southside of Heaven" to the bluesy slide of "Bread & Water" to the Mexican-flavored "Boracho Station", Bingham's songs come straight from the heart. His influences blend seamlessly with his own style creating a traditional sound that also sounds fresh and original. Bingham has the unique ability to transport audiences into the center of the place from which they came. – antiMUSIC reviews

Goddamn Lonely Love\r\nFor years, Alabama’s Drive-By Truckers have been playing a brand of heavy Southern rock inspired by groups like the Allman Brothers and Lynyrd Skynyrd. They perfected the formula on their last two records: the first, an ambitious double-disk concept record about the rise and fall of a Skynyrd-like band (“Southern Rock Opera,” from 2001); the second, a relatively lean set of songs that many critics hailed as one of the best records of last year (“Decoration Day”).\r\nThe band’s new record, “The Dirty South”(New West), is clearly kin to its predecessors, right down to the Wes Freed painting on the cover, the tangle of multiple guitars, and the lyrical matter: the songs teem with sin and honor, with outlaws and churches and pretty girls and prodigal fathers and plenty of drinking. But it’s also an evolution. Patterson Hood, the Truckers’ lead singer, began as their primary songwriter. Over time, his songs have come to alternate with contributions from the band members Mike Cooley and Jason Isbell.\r\nIn a way, the Truckers are the most self-conscious of Southern rock bands. Southern rock is not only their stock-in-trade and their talent but their subject. Throughout the record, the band does its influences proud and continues its admirable, ambitious project of keeping Southern rock real without destroying its mythic qualities.
